Toril Rygh combines
old images with new materials.
Photocopies of old medical drawings, drawings that show partly dissected
bodies, are connected to three-dimensional objects on the gallery
floor. The connecting plastic tubes, between the pictures and objects,
are associated with medical equipment. As you move closer you notice
that they also have a function of transmitting air between the objects
and pictures. On examining the pulsating objects, you notice the tongue-in-cheek
attitude with which they have been put together. Toril uses found,
discarded materials for her art objects, but this art-historical practice
of the objet trouvé has taken a turn towards uneasiness as
the artworks are closely linked to the body.
